2026 Mountain Bike XCO Racing Season Recap

 Alberta Cup XCO

1. Provincials @ Bragg Creek June 20 = 6th place out of 8 in Men aged 35 to 44

This was my 14th year of MTB racing. I was focused on the season with weight training and spinning over the winter. Then when it was time for the races I was battling a back injury and I was feeling fatigue during certain times so I missed lots of races. I came to the conclusion that I am going to be only focusing on the XCO races because I struggled last year in the marathon. I bought a new Yeti and raced on it for provincials and I love it. I did a total of  km’s cycling in 2025.

* In total for my career after 14 season’s of MTB racing I have done 71 races (69 MTB & 2 Road) and I did not include my Tuesday night MTB races.

The course got changed because of all of the rain. The new course was pretty fun and I enjoyed it because we ran up the big long hill to Gold Stick Park and then to Rundle Park and finished in Gold Bar Park.

A huge thanks to 5 Peaks and all the volunteers for putting on the race. The temperature was 24 degrees Celsius.

I was definitely feeling it from yesterday’s XCO race because my legs were a little bit sore to start the day. There were two time cut offs and I was happy that I made the first one by one minute however I did not make the second. The full marathon was 52 kms long. I tried my hardest and had fun. The course was so much fun because there were long climbs for a couple kms and then fast flowing downhill sections for a couple of kms.

I tried my best and I am proud that I did 3 laps even though it was 4 laps for my category.

The temperature was 25 deg C. I would like to thank all the volunteers and C4XC for putting on such a great event.
