December 2016/2017 Capital City Rec Hockey League
Thu 29th, (Game #15) 1 Goal
@ 8:00pm, Clare Drake U of A arena Rangers vs. Fury (W 2-1) For my goal James S got the puck down low along the goal line and centred it out in front and I had my stick down on the ice and their defence men pushed me forward and the puck hit my stick and just barley crossed over the line. It took me a little bit to get my legs going as I had a great holiday with family and great food. They scored in the first period. The turning point came in the second period as out goalie Ryan L stopped a short handed break away and one more later five on five and that was huge. We scored twice in the third period and just managed to hang on as the final minute we took a penalty and they pulled their goalie. They out shot us 36 to 22. Howard C 1G. James S 1A. Alex H 1A. Michael C 1A.
Mon 19th, (Game #14)
@ 8:30pm, Rexall Place arena Rangers vs. Garbage Goals (W 4-2) I had two great scoring chances and their goalie robbed me. I had a couple terrible back hand passes that were intercepted. Our Defence Men did great by not allowing second chances in front of our net and Harry A was solid as their forwards could not get by him. The game was fairly even with both teams having momentum at times. We out shot them 30 to 26 and I would say we had more scoring chances. James S 3G. Ryan L 1G & 1A. Javan M 1A. Patrick G 1A. Evan R 1A. Rob H 1A. Daneil D 1A.
Tue 6th, (Game #13) 1 Assist
@ 10:45pm, Knights of Columbus arena Rangers vs. Admirals (L 4-3) I got my assist late in the third period as I got the puck from the corner and sent it to the net and it was a scramble in front before Javan M put it in. The game was fairly even with not a lot of scoring chances for both teams. The difference was they scored twice on the power play including once when I took my first penalty of the year. We took five penalties in total. We did mount a late come back with a couple minutes left in the game. We out shot them 19 to 18. Ryan S 1G & 1A. Javan M 1G & 1A. Cameron B 1G. Bruce C 1A. Brendan M 1A.

November 2016/2017 Capital City Rec Hockey League
Wed 30th, (Game #12) 1 Assist
@ 10:30pm, Glengarry arena Rangers vs. Knights (L 5-4) On my assist I just dumped the puck into their zone and their defence men missed it and James S came in to scoop the puck up and made a nice move around their second defence men to score. I made some really nice passes, and I also had a couple get picked off. I feel as if they did out play us tonight. In my opinion I think we tried our best and for just a small stretch we stopped skating hard and they took advantage. They out shot us 38 to 20. James S 1G. Michael C 2G & 1A. Howard C 1G & 2A. Robin M 2A.
Wed 23rd, (Game #11) 1 Assist
@ 10:30pm, Coronation arena Rangers vs. Southside Samurai (L 6-1) On my assist I stole the puck just outside their blue line and skated in and passed it over to Ryan S and his shot went wide and hit the glass behind the net and took a funny bounce right back to him and it was a tap in goal. The first ten minutes they really out played us as we did not even register a shot on net. The final couple minutes of the first period we slowly started to skate faster and get a couple shots on net. The next two periods they were just a little bit faster of a team and deserved to win the game. Our goalie Ryan L was the reason why the score didn't get crazy as we were out shot 37 to 33. Ryan S 1G.
Fri 18th, (Game #10) 1 Goal
@ 8:30pm, Garrison Army Base arena Rangers vs. Voodoo (W 5-4) On my goal I was on the goal line beside the net and beat their defence men to the loose puck and my shot hit their goalies stick and banked in. We got out played in the early part of the first period. Then we scored three straight goals. They ended up coming all the way back and took the lead late in the third period. We came back and tied it up. We won in the shoot out. Our goalie Ryan L held us in the game as they out shot us 34 to 18. Robin M 1G & 1A. Bruce C 1G & 1A. Howard C 1G. Alex H 2A. Michael C 2A. Ryan S 1A.
Mon 14th, (Game #9) 1 Goal & 2 Assists
@ 10:30pm, Clareview arena Rangers vs. Hellbilly Rebels (W 4-3) On my goal I got a perfect pass from Ryan S and I had some room to come closer to their goalie and I snapped a shot off the post and in. My fist assist I kept the puck in at the point and I shot it where Javan M battled hard to get the rebound and score. My second assist I turned the puck over just inside their blue line and I passed it to Ryan S and he fed it over to Javan M who got his hat trick. They had some really good defence men that could rush up the ice end to end and our defence did a great job in preventing them from getting too good a scoring chance. Our goalie Blake M was really solid tonight with great re bound control. We out shot them 39 to 24. Javan M 3G & 1A. Ryan S 3A.
Tues 8th, (Game #8) 2 Goals & 2 Assists
@ 10:30pm, Coronation arena Rangers vs. Fury (W 6-1) On my first goal I was standing in front of the net like Ryan Smyth and tipped it in off a perfect shot from Robin M. My second goal I got a rebound right in front of the net. My first assist on the PP I passed it back to Dallas H and he scored from the blue line top corner. My second on the PP same shift I passed it right out in front to Michael C and he had a nice shot. Tonight our passing was crisp and clean as we passed to get out of our own zone and then passed really well in their zone to keep sustained pressure on. We out shot them 40 to 28. Ryan S 1G. Patrick G 1G. Dallas H 1G & 1A. Michael C 1G & 2A. Robin M 2A. James S 1A. Andy R 1A. Bruce C 1A.
Tues 1st, (Game #7) 1 Goal
@ 10:15pm, George S Hughes South Side arena Rangers vs. Garbage Goals (L 5-3) I scored in the third period with ten seconds left off a good pass from Michael C and I had a really nice quick snap shot. The game shifted momentum back and fourth. Both Goalies made a lot of great saves. The turning point was with a few seconds left in the second period they scored on the power play to go up 3-2. They out shot us 37 to 32. Andy R 1G & 1A. Ryan S 1G. Cameron B 1A. Javan M 1A. Robin M 1A. Michael C 1A.

October 2016/2017 Capital City Rec Hockey League
Wed 26th, (Game #6)
@ 9:45pm, Donnan arena Rangers vs. Admirals (L 6-2) I blocked two shots sliding head first (what was I thinking). I got them to turn the puck over a couple times as I was for checking hard deep in their own zone. I had a few times that I could not clear the puck out of our zone. I did score as their goalie's glove was in the net to make the save. We got out played tonight. They had great break outs of their zone by either skating it out or passing it out. They also did a good job of supporting the puck in our zone and it was hard for us to clear it out. Ryan L was fantastic in net and held the score respectable because we got out shot 48 to 16. Cameron B 2G. Andy R 1A. Michael C 1A.
Wed 19th, (Game #5) 2 Assists
@ 10:30pm, Kinsmen arena Rangers vs. Knights (W 5-4) On my first assist I skated with the puck over their blue line and passed it through a couple legs and Ryan S made a really nice deke to score. My second assist I just bumped the puck to Rob H and he had a really nice goal. On the very first shift of the game we scored twice. We continued to attack and were on loose pucks first and found ourselves up 4-1 after the first period. The second period we did not play well and they slowly came back and eventually drew even in the third period. It was a good game. They out shot us 39 to 23 as our goalie Ryan L played great. Ryan S 3G & 1A. Rob H 2G & 1A. Howard C 1A. James S 1A. Cameron B 1A. Evan R 1A.
Sat 15th, (Game #4)
@ 9:30pm, Millwoods Rec Centre arena Rangers vs. Southside Samurai (L 3-2 S/O) With under a minute into the game we found ourselves down by one goal. They scored again and we were trailing 2-0. We slowly started to claw back. We got back to even and forced three on three overtime where no one scored. In the shoot out I had the final shot to extend it and I went high glove and their goalie got the cheater on the glove to save it. They out shot us 35 to 33. Our goalie Blake M played really well. Ryan S 2G. Andy R 2A. James S 1A.
Sat 1st, (Game #3) 1 Goal
@ 9:30pm, Millwoods Rec Centre arena Rangers vs. Voodoo (W 4-2) On my goal James S cycled the puck to Ryan S and he passed it to me and I found the puck on my stick just in front of the crease for a back hand tap into the open net. I felt that both teams were evenly matched. They were really good at getting chances of the rush and they had really good passing. Our goalie Ryan L played a strong game. James S & Ryan S parents and grandpa came out to watch the game, it was great to see them. They out shot us 39 to 27. Ryan S 1G & 1A. Michael C 1G & 1A. Dallas H 1G. Cameron B 2A. James S 2A. Eric L 1A.

Mon 26th, (Game #2) 1 Goal
@ 10:30pm, Knights of Columbus arena Rangers vs. Hellbilly Rebels (L 4-3 S/O) On my goal I got a rebound off a slap shot from Cameron B and I had one hand on my stick in the crease and directed it in the open net. This game was back and fourth. We had a lot of odd man rushes and could not capitalize. They had one defence men in blue socks and he made a big difference for them. No one scored in the three on three overtime. We lost in the shoot out. They out shot us 43 to 39. Cameron B 1G & 1A. Ryan S 1G. Michael C 2A. James S 1A. Javan M 1A. Alex H 1A.
Wed 21st, (Game #1)
@ 6:30pm, Donnan arena Rangers vs. Titans HC (L 4-3 S/O) On July 26th I suffered a grade two AC Joint sprain on my right shoulder from a crash on day four of Singletrack 6 MTB XC stage race. The past weekend I was on my road bike for the first time since. Tonight there was some minor pain because I am also doing physical therapy to strengthen the shoulder. I hit the cross bar. I had a couple nice passes to my team mates. I played the wing tonight. My legs and lungs felt good, it was my hands that were a bit behind. We out played them tonight. We took way to many penalties and it cost us because they forced three on three overtime where no one scored. In the shoot out it was a goal tending dual where we went through our full team until they scored to win it. I didn't even get a shot on my attempt because I lost the puck. The shots were even 27 to 27. Michael C 1G. Howard C 1G. James S 1G & 1A. Andy R 1A. Robin M 1A.

Alberta Cup MTB XCO
This was my seventh season of mountain bike racing, and third with coach Heather K. I organised Race the Ridge as the primary point of contact along side with Cory D, my mom doing the lap counting and all our great volunteers. There is a great deal of planning to do before the race including lots of forms to fill out including: tec guide, emergency response plan, race sanction, commercial event application, Land use form, insurance certificate. It was also a big week to get some details done before the race and on race day it was an 11 hour day to get the course set up, volunteers ready to go and prepare the race as to the regulations set out by Alberta Bicycle Association. This was my first time ever doing this. I had a blast doing it because of three major reasons: 1- Seeing the youth have a MTB XCO event in Edmonton and my friends racing in the afternoon. 2- Promotes a healthy way of living. 3- brings United Cycle into the community and gathers fellow racers alike all together.
This year I took up a role on the Executive with United Cycle Cycling Club as the Mountain Bike Coordinator and that included meetings with the other members on the executive and every Wednesday evening I was the MTB group ride leader. I really enjoy doing this role.
I raced 1 Fat Tire Tuesday MTB XC Race. I volunteered for 1 ABA Cyclo Cross race put on by my club United Cycle I went a total of 3,107 km's training and racing on the road and trails along with indoor spinning.

SingleTrack 6 MTB XC Stage Race 2016 @ Kootenay Rockies BC: Recap
General Classification
I did not finish all six days so I don't get a general classification in Solo Open Men. I did finish the first four days and at that point in the GC I was in 40th place out of 49 Results and that overall took me 13hours & 58minutes and was a total of 145 Kms with a total elevation gain of 16,692 Feet of climbing.
Recap Of The Race
My coach Heather K had a great program for me since January 1 2016 and I peaked for this race because I was just getting stronger with each day until the crash on July 26th (Stage four) I suffered a grade two AC Joint sprain on my right shoulder from a crash on day four as I had gone to the Hospital in Golden on July 27th and did X-Rays. I decided that I was going to withdraw from the race because I could not hold the handle bars for multiple hours and I did not want to risk crashing on the shoulder again. It was a shame because this was the best that I have ever raced and felt before. That's racing and sometimes these things happen. I am happy I tried my best.
I did receive a singletrack 3 medal and finisher T-shirt as the first three days were the same start times and same courses. I do not get a solo open result in that race (Single track 3) as I registered for the 6 days. Stage 1 @ Fernie BC, Stage 2 @ Fernie Alpine Resort BC, Stage 3 @ Cranbrook BC, Stage 4 @ Kimberley BC. Stage 5 & 6 @ Golden BC and I did not start the Golden days. There were racers from over sixteen countries and a very strong field came to this great event. The final banquet was held in Golden BC. I sat with Trevor P and Michelle. There were great stories to share with the racers and volunteers, and the slide show was fun to watch.
Thank You
A huge thanks to Transrockies for putting on the race and to all the technical, mechanics, medics, masseurs, ambassadors and finish & checkpoint marshals as there was so much effort put into organising a huge first class event like this. One volunteer made me PB&J sandwiches at the finish line each day, very thoughtful.

SingleTrack 6 MTB XC Race 2016: Stage 4 @ Kimberley, BC
Tuesday July 26th, I finished 39th place out of 46 in Solo Open Men Results, and in the timed descent I was 149th out of 163 overall solo men Results. It took me 3hrs & 22mins, It was a total of 36 Kms. Total elevation gain 3,796 Feet. My average heart rate was 156 bpm and max was 181 bpm. Check out my garmin data Here.
Single Track 3 day version was finished yesterday so today was just the six day racers. I saw a chance to pounce and attack off the start gun on the mass start as it was a very long climb up. I got up well past half of the entire field of racers and was on as my legs and lungs were feeling so strong and powerful. There was a section of rocks that some had to walk on, including me and I would imagine the group behind me would have been backed up on that section. Then there was a really fun fast and flowing short descent with high berms and pump track hills. We climbed back up for a couple km's and that led to a really technical steep and rocky loose dirt descent where you white knuckle down. I navigated my way down safely on it and then on the bottom smooth part I hit a tree stump and flew over the handle bars and landed hard on my right shoulder. I sat up and was in great pain as I could not even lift up my bike with my right arm so I spent a couple minutes to collect myself as lots of racers past me. I road one km to get to the first check point/aid station and I went straight to the medical girl and she checked to make sure nothing was broken and she suspected I had suffered an AC Joint sprain so she taped my right shoulder to hold the bones together. I continued on and just wanted to finish off the stage. Every bump and root I went over was really hurting my shoulder especially on the descent's. I some how clawed my way back and passed lots of more racers up the long switch back climb. All and all I had about a 20 minute loss of time from the crash and I was on pace to finish 34th but was really proud to gut it out and claw back to finish where I did. After the race I got treatment on the shoulder and got it re taped at the medical trailer.
The temperature was 24 deg C. A huge thanks to Transrockies for putting on the race and to all the volunteers for their efforts. I stayed at Best Western and it was great.

SingleTrack 6 MTB XC Race 2016: Stage 3 @ Cranbrook, BC
Monday July 25th, I finished 39th place out of 47 in Solo Open Men Results, and in the timed descent I was 166th out of 194 overall solo men Results. It took me 3hrs & 26mins, It was a total of 42 Kms. Total elevation gain 3,586 Feet. My average heart rate was 165 bpm and max was 183 bpm. Check out my garmin data Here.
The night before I had dinner at East Side Marios with some friends Trevor P, Michelle E, Stew H, Mike K & his wife. Today they did a wave start for us and I was in wave 4, it was great because your racing with similar riders at your pace. I took off from the start and pushed really hard for the first ten km's as I charged up the long gradual climb and was red lining all the way up as I was in the lead pack. The first descent was really technical and steep with rocks and loose dirt so I just road it out safely. This course was great it had great flow and good climbs. I started to get tired legs around the twenty five km mark and then re gained some power. I really enjoyed the timed descent because there was some climbing in there. My legs and lower back were pretty sore towards the end. Today was my best result.
The temperature was 30 deg C. A huge thanks to Transrockies for putting on the race and to all the volunteers for their efforts. I stayed at Best Western and it was great.

SingleTrack 6 MTB XC Race 2016: Stage 2 @ Fernie Alpine Resort, BC
Sunday July 24th, I finished 44th place out of 49 in Solo Open Men Results, and in the timed descent I was 184th out of 198 overall solo men Results. It took me 3hrs & 40mins, It was a total of 34 Kms. Total elevation gain 4,834 Feet. My average heart rate was 158 bpm and max was 180 bpm. Check out my garmin data Here.
The night before I had dinner at the Northern with some friends Trevor P, Michelle E, Stew H, Mike K & his wife. Today I started out pretty well on the opening climb and I had good cadence. Then we crossed the creek and there was a long rolling section with wet roots and it took a lot of power to get over them as there was a couple I couldn't muscle over. Then there was a longer really steep climb that I had to walk up at the tail end of it. That led us to the timed descent where the first portion of it I struggled as there was drops and rocks, the latter part of it I did ok. The next climb was a steep longer one and I made it up that ok and the descent after was so much fun. It took us to a bridge crossing where it was almost like we were in a tropical forest as I have never seen trees like that and the switch back climb was great. The final climb was steep and at the end of it I had to walk the last one km of it as the rocks were wet. The descent to the finish was so much fun. My arms were sore from all the down hills.
The temperature was 28 deg C. A huge thanks to Transrockies for putting on the race and to all the volunteers for their efforts. I stayed at Park Place Lodge and it was great.

SingleTrack 6 MTB XC Race 2016: Stage 1 @ Fernie, BC
Saturday July 23rd, I finished 43rd place out of 49 in Solo Open Men Results, and in the timed descent I was 180th out of 200 overall solo men Results. It took me 3hrs & 28mins, It was a total of 33 Kms. Total elevation gain 4,476 Feet. My average heart rate was 172 bpm and max was 194 bpm. Check out my garmin data Here.
The night before I had dinner at the loaf with some friends Trevor P, Michelle E, Stew H, Mike K & his wife. It was great to get into the swing of things with them. The day before it had rained and it was great for the course as the dirt was not loose and the trails were bone dry. I have a trail bike this year rolling along with my new Trek Fuel EX 9.8 and it was the perfect bike for these trails. This was my first time ever riding here and I loved it. The big long climbs were fantastic. There was a couple switch backs I did not make on the opening climb and two really steep pitches up on the final climb I had to walk up a small part of it. I really enjoyed the down hill sections as I road them all and it was so fun and flowy. I struggled for the first five kms but after that I found my groove and raced really well.
The temperature was 25 deg C. A huge thanks to Transrockies for putting on the race and to all the volunteers for their effort to help make this bucket list dream come true. I stayed at Park Place Lodge and it was great.

Saturday June 25th, I finished 14th place out of 21 in Solo Open Men Results, Overall I was 28th out of 48 for solo open and master open men category. It took me 3hrs & 55mins, (Lap1= 57mins) (Lap2= 56mins) (Lap3= 1hr) (Lap4= 1hr & 1min) It was a total of 50 Kms. Total elevation gain 4,324 Feet. My average heart rate was 169 bpm and max was 187 bpm. Check out my garmin data Here.
I took Friday the 24th off work so I could get in a pre lap and it was pouring rain when I had arrived. It rained hard until 6:00am two hours before our start. It was a mass start and there was over 270 racers. The first three laps the course was wet and the roots & rocks were very slippery so you definitely had to be careful. I am so happy with how well I road on lap one and fore sure my second lap because it was my fastest. My last two laps I just road consistent. I am also so happy how I handled my riding on the wet conditions.
The temperature was 7 deg C for the 8:00am start and when I finished it was 15 deg C. A huge thanks to Transrockies for putting on the race and all the volunteers for all their effort to help make this a great event to participate in.

Deadgoat Giver6er MTB XC Marathon Race 2016 @ Canmore Nordic Centre (Alberta Cup XCM) #2
Sunday June 5th, I finished 25th place out of 26 in Solo Open Men Results. It took me 5 hours & 16 minutes and I completed four laps. I went a total of 48 Kms. Total elevation gain was 5,154 Feet. My average heart rate was 154 bpm and max was 183 bpm. Check out my garmin data here.
The format of this race is easy complete as many laps as you can in six hours. I paced myself really good on the first lap. I was about to head out for lap two when I felt something loose in my front wheel. I stopped at the Juventus tent where Tracy S put my bike on the stand and tightened the front brakes. Everything was tight and he was thinking it was a bushing in the fork. It took about twelve minutes and that was a really nice thing he did for me and he said I could keep racing. I had a good second lap. It was strange because I felt my front fork rattle a bit. Then things went downhill because my stomach started to hurt. I didn't feel like I was going to get sick. My legs felt o.k. On lap four was a really big struggle as lots of times I just wanted to quit because my stomach hurt going over every bump and I even had to get off the bike a couple times. I managed to push through in the heat and a sore stomach and I am very proud I did not quit.
The temperature was 30 deg C. A huge thanks to Deadgoat Racing for putting on the race and the BBQ chicken sausage hotdogs were fantastic and all the volunteers for all their effort.
Mountain Maiden MTB XC Race 2016 @ Canmore Nordic Centre (Alberta Cup) #1
Saturday June 4th, I finished 25th out of 28 in Sport Results. It took me 1 hour & 16 minutes. It was three laps and a total of 18 km's long. The total Elevation gain was 1,348 feet. My average heart rate was 174 bpm and max was 190 bpm. Check out my Garmin data Here.
I had a good start for the first five minutes. From there on this was one of my worst races to date. I didn't have good legs and my lungs were feeling it today. The results showed all three lap times were 25 minutes and I felt like I was faster on lap two and three. I did not want to quit and instead just wanted to press on and finish because that is the most important thing to me. I really enjoyed the course because it had a great long climb in it and there was a fast and flowing decent that was not overly technical as they cut out some features that normally are in the race.
The temperature was 27 deg C and perfect. I would like to thank all the volunteers and Spin Sisters for putting on the race.

Royal River Valley Rumble 5 MTB XC Marathon Race 2016 @ Sunridge Ski Hill (Alberta Cup XCM) #1
Sunday May 29th, I finished 34th place out of 39 in the Solo Men category Results, It took me 4 hours & 48 minutes to complete five laps and I went a total of 47 Kms. Total elevation gain was 4,183 Feet. My average heart rate was 168 bpm and max was 193 bpm. Check out my garmin data here.
This was a great way for me to kick off my seventh season of racing. I love this format because its simple complete as many laps as you can in five hours. I do not do well at this venue as it is pretty technical trails and short steep punchy climbs and on this day I did well as I enjoyed the course because there was some longer climbs mixed in and one cool new trail (squeeze my lemon) was built with awesome switch backs to decent on. On the first lap it had rained hard the night before so the course was very slick and lots of the climbs we had to run up them. My second lap was my fastest one as the course started to dry up nicely. On lap four my quadriceps and hamstrings in both legs started to cramp up pretty bad and then I lost momentum over the rock garden down low by the river and my leg could not move to un clip from my pedal and I crashed down into a big gorge and landed on my shoulder and thankfully only had some bruises and my bike was still attached to me so it was ok. By lap five I was in pure grind mode as I could barley even walk up two of the steep climbs no one could ride up. My goal was to complete four laps and I beat that by one lap. The temperature was 20 deg C. Thank you to my parents for coming to cheer me on at the finish line. After the race I sat with my parents and United Cycle Race Team members Cory D, Trevor C and Mike K.
The day before the race I organised Race the Ridge along side with Cory D, my mom doing the lap counting and all our great volunteers. It was a big week to get some details done for the race and on race day it was an 11 hour day to get there to get the course set up, volunteers ready to go and prepare the race as to the regulations set out by Alberta Bicycle Association. I did not even ride my bike for ten days before the race. This race used about five Km's of the course we used for our race and Kurt M of Hardcore helped us out to set it up so I knew the course well.
Thank you Kurt M, Geoff I, Steve M, Karen M, Mark R, Peter K, Gord B, Bob W, Keegan B, and Hardcore Bikes for putting on the race & all the volunteers for their efforts.

Fat Tire MTB XC Race 2016 #1 @ Sunridge Ski Hill
Tuesday May 17th, I finished third last place in the four laps group. It was 8 kms long and it took me 47 minutes. My average heart rate was 169 bpm and Max 196 bpm. Total elevation gain was 1,342 feet. Check out my Garmin data Here. With my warm up I went a total of 10 kms and road for 1 hour. The course had the really hard switch back climbs and steep descents. After the first couple climbs my stomach felt a bit un settled so I had to back off my effort a bit. Then my dropper seat post locked up on me so it took me a bit to get it to the full height position. After the race I spoke with Kurt M and Geoff I of Hardcore about our races as they are organizing the MTB XC marathon race on May 29th and myself and Cory D are organizing the MTB XC race on May 28th. I spread the word as well tonight. It was 26 deg C and a perfect evening outdoors. Thanks to the crew @ Hardcore for putting on the race.

April 2015/2016 Capital City Rec Hockey League (Playoffs)
Thu 14th, (Game #5)
@ 9:45pm, Knights of Columbus arena Rangers vs. Bipolar Bears (L 2-1) I emptied the tank tonight and played through lots of bumps and bruises. I can look in the mirror and say I tried my best. We scored twenty seven seconds into the game. But They out played us in the first period. We battled so hard as a team and blocked shots and skated really hard. We have a really good team and just came up short. We lost the second round best of three series and are eliminated as they go on to the finals. They out shot us 23 to 18. James S 1G.
Mon 11th, (Game #4)
@ 9:00pm, Terwillegar arena Rangers vs. Bipolar Bears (L 4-3) I won lots of face offs tonight and I had a couple nice back checks where I stole the puck away. I missed my chance in the shoot out and I lost the puck and didn't even get a shot on net, I was disappointed. I would say that tonight as a whole they did out play us. They went up 2-1 in the third period. With the game tied we scored with only a couple minutes left. Then they scored on a six on four power play with their goalie pulled and a few seconds left in the game. They won in a shoot out. The difference was they scored three power play goals. The best of three series is now tied. They out shot us 26 to 20. James S 1G & 1A. Ryan S 1G & 1A. Daniel D 1G. Howard C 1A. Jeff M 1A.
Sat 9th, (Game #3)
@ 10:00pm, Callingwood arena Rangers vs. Bipolar Bears (W 5-4) I had missed a couple days of work this week for a medical condition but I felt good when the game started. That is until in the second period I blocked a slap shot off the foot and then later on I fell feet first hard into the boards jamming my leg up a bit. We came out and had a really strong first period. Then the second period came where I think we only had two shots on goal and got out played and our goalie Ryan L held us in there. The third period was fairly even and the difference was Ryan S goal on a break away short handed getting hauled down drawing a penalty and still scoring the game winner late. They out shot us 30 to 12. Ryan S 3G & 2A. Chris K 2G. Ryan DV 1A. Bruce C 1A. Jeff M 2A.
Sat 2nd, (Game #2) 1 Goal
@ 8:15pm, Clareview arena Rangers vs. Toothwork Titans (W 4-1) On my goal our line did a good job turning the puck over in their zone where Robin M cycled it down low to Bruce C who then passed it to me right out in front and I made a nice move and went five hole. I had some really good back checking. We were missing four players tonight so we knew we had to play really hard to over come that. We had more of the play in their zone as I felt that we out played them. This was a full team effort. We out shot them 35 to 23. We took the first round best of three series 2-0 so now we get to keep playing in round two. Daniel D 2G & 1A. Chris K 1G & 1A. Robin M 2A. Jeff M 2A.
Fri 1st, (Game #1) 2 Goals
@ 8:30pm, Edmonton Garrison arena Rangers vs. Toothwork Titans (W 5-4) On my first goal Chris K passed it to me as I was right beside the crease and I showed patience to pull the puck back and across to deke the goalie out. My second goal was the game winner as we were in overtime four on four where Robin M passed it to me and I was at the side of the net and one timed it in bar down. The game went back and fourth as both teams had really good scoring chances. Both goalies were really solid and Ryan L made a great glove save with the score 3-2 for us at the time. They showed a lot of battle as we were up 4-3 with 17 seconds left and a face off in their zone and they came and scored with six seconds left to force overtime. We got out shot 41 to 38. James S 1G. Daniel D 1G. Chris K 1G & 1A. Howard C 2A. Robin M 2A. Andy R 1A. Javan M 1A. Jeff M 1A.
March 2015/2016 Capital City Rec Hockey League
Mon 14th, (Game #22)
@ 6:30pm, Tipton arena Rangers vs. Toothwork Titans (W 3-2) I did hit the post tonight. And also got a great feed in front and missed the net. This game it felt like we had more of the play in their end. The difference was in the third period we were on a five on three power play and that had expired and as their player came out of the box we scored. We out shot them 25 to 17. James S 2G. Evan R 1G. Ryan S 3A. Howard C 1A. Robin M 1A. Blake M 1A.
Thu 10th, (Game #21) 1 Assist
@ 10:15pm, Crestwood arena Rangers vs. Ghostbusters 2 (W 5-3) On my assist I stole the puck along the boards and it went to Alex H who came in off the point and made a nice play to come in and score. One of their players ran into Robin M and I went over to their player and spoke to him saying this is a non contact league, It felt good stepping in for a team mate. We got out played in the first period and saw our selves down 2-0. They were intercepting our passes in the neutral zone. Then we scored 5 straight goals. Ryan L made a big save on a three on zero play to hold us in the lead. They out shot us 27 to 21. Harry A 1G & 2A. Ryan S 1G & 1A. Robin M 1G. Chris K 1G. Blake M 1A. Evan R 1A. James S 1A.
Mon 7th, (Game #20)
@ 9:30pm, Russ Barnes arena Rangers vs. Garbage Goals (W 3-2) I did bad in the face off circle tonight. I also gave the puck up right in front of my own net, thankfully they didn't score. I did make two nice back checking plays to prevent goals. This game was very even. Both teams had 30 shots each. Both goalies made some really nice saves. I thought both teams defence men played really well. We scored with 32 seconds left in the third period. No one scored in the four on four O.T period. We won in the shoot out off a game winner from James S. Ryan S 1G. James S 1G & 1A. Chris K 1A. Andy R 1A. Javan M 1A.

February 2015/2016 Capital City Rec Hockey League
Sun 28th, (Game #19) 2 Goals & 1 Assist
@ 10:00pm, George S Hughes South Side arena Rangers vs. Bipolar Bears (W 4-2) On my first goal I was covering the point for our pinching in defence men and the puck came to me from Javan M at the blue line and I toe dragged it around their player and that gave me time and space so I wound up and took a hard low slap shot and it deflected off their players skate and in. My second goal Andy R passed it to Robin M and then the puck came right in front of the net and I one timed it in. My assist I was behind the net and passed it to Javan M who passed back to the point to Eric L and his shot went in. We fell behind 2-0 really fast and early in the first period. We calmed down after that and played our way back into the game. Where we did good was the cycle down low. The turning point was in the third period as we just scored two quick goals and they went on a three on zero chance and our goalie Brendan M made a crazy save, but our player put his hand on the puck resulting in a penalty shot, no worries he stopped that too. They out shot us 28 to 21. Ryan L 1G. Howard C 1A.
Thu 25th, (Game #18)
@ 9:00pm, Michael Cameron arena Rangers vs. Figjam (L 4-1) I did not play as good tonight. My legs were a bit sore from my spin yesterday. The game was fairly even but they did get better scoring chances. It seemed like we did not get many good scoring chances. We took five penalties tonight. We got out shot 31 to 18. Ryan S 1G. Chris K 1A.
Sat 20th, (Game #17)
@ 8:45am, Knights of Columbus arena Rangers vs. Voodoo V (W 2-1) I took my first penalty today for hooking. I didn't have my legs going the first couple shifts. I played back at centre. It seemed like their team was just a bit faster than us in the first half of the game. Our GM Harry A is on their team and he played against us today. We played better the second half of the game. We drew two penalties late in the game and we came back with two power play goals in under three minutes. Blake M was great in goal. We got out shot 44 to 31. Ryan S 1G & 1A. James S 1G & 1A. Howard C 2A.
Sat 13th, (Game #16) 2 Goals & 2 Assists
@ 10:15pm, George S Hughes South Side arena Rangers vs. Toothwork Titans (W 6-0) My first goal I got a nice pass from Ryan S in tight and one timed it. My second goal was of the high light reel type as I was out killing a penalty and got the puck in my own zone and got by both their players and then went around the one defence men back and made a nice deke on the goalie as I tucked it in on my back hand. My first assist I got the puck in the corner and got it over to Ryan S. My second assist I passed it to Ryan S outlet from our zone and he got it to Evan R. I played left wing instead of centre tonight. I should have had the hat trick as I had lots of chances. The game was close 0-0 after first period and I would say that was because we took two penalties. We played really good in the second and third periods. Ryan L got his second shut out this season and it was cool to see as he was battling a bad cold. We out shot them 39 to 21. Ryan S 2G & 3A. Chris K 1G.
